EXTRA RARE, ONE OF A KIND FIND, QUILLED KNIFE CASE. IT HAS A SECTION ON TOP THAT IS BLACKENED HIDE WITH CLASSIC WOODLANDS STYLE CURVILINEAR DESIGNS. THE FRINGE IS OLD AND INTACT AND IS OBVIOUSLY INDIAN BRAIN TANNED. THERE ARE TWO TULIP DESIGNS APPROXIMATELY MIDWAY DOWN THE LENGTH OF THE SHEATH THAT LOOK TO BE CUTOUTS WITH AN OLD WORN VELVET INSERTS. THE ACTUAL MATERIAL OF THE SHEATH LOOKS TO BE REPTILIAN IN ORIGIN; POSSIBLY TURTLE? ON THE BACK THERE APPEARS A COPPER HAND HAMMERED RIVET THAT HOLDS THE BELT LOOP PORTION TH O THE MAIN SHEATH. The hide on the back appears blacked=ned as well or art least vewry dark brown A sensational museum grade and very early piece fit for the best of collections and it has a LOW NO RESERVE PRICE !
